ventricle

The ventricle is the thick-walled muscular main pumping chamber of the heart. There are two, the right and left ventricles; they pump to the lungs and body repectively. The ventricles receive blood from the atria via the atrioventricular valves, and eject blood forcefully through the pulmonic valve (right ventricule) and the aortic valve (left ventricle).
