lymphadenitis

This term refers to infection with a bacterial germ of one or more lymph nodes. It is the function of lymph nodes to filter out germs that make their way into the body fluids and tissues. There in the lymph nodes the germs are trapped and white cells congregate to destroy them. Pus accumulates in the node and antibiotics or even surgical drainage may be necessary to get rid of the infection safely.
