dermographism

Dermographism is a form of urticaria (hives) in which itching or whealing of the skin occurs following stroking of the skin. One can literally "write" on the skin with a blunt pointer and raise a wheal in the shape of the writen letters. It is fairly rare in children. The wheal lasts about 30 minutes or less before fading harmlessly. This condition requires no treatment, and the tendency usually disappears after 2-3 years.

Delayed pressure urticaria involves itching or painful wheals at the site of pressure on the skin, often noticed on the soles of the feet or around the waist.
